What we do

Individuals are often disempowered or simply do not know how to react to situations of abuse of children. This leads to children being left unprotected and abuse becomes more common. But there are solutions.

The issues

Estimates show that as many as one billion children are pushed onto the margins of society around the world. This number is increasing. ChildSafe works to protect children and youth who are: living and working on the streets, using drugs, affected by HIV, migrants or at risk of unsafe migration, in prison or in conflict with the law, victims of abuse and domestic violence, involved in the sex trade, school drop-outs or unemployed, living in poverty or affected in any other way that prevents them from having their internationally recognized rights as children fulfilled. Children and youth living on the margins of society are exposed to many abuses, from physical and emotional violence to sexual exploitation, forced labor or lack of access to health care and education. ChildSafe ensures marginalized children and youth are protected from all forms of abuse and have access to the rights enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child: the right to survival (medical care, shelter, clothing and food), the right to protection from all forms of abuse and neglect, the right to development (access to education, support to remain in his/her family etc), the right to participation.

How does ChildSafe work?

ChildSafe protects children through different avenues:

Behavior Change Campaigns

Behavior change is critical to protect children. By adopting positive behaviors we provide supportive environments to children and youth. We created campaigns for citizens, travelers and donors.

Child Protection Trainings

We provide trainings to various types of people and organizations. From community members to businesses. These entities are given the tools to protect children and youth in their daily life. They are certified and continuously monitored.

24/7 Emergency Hotlines

ChildSafe offers immediate protection to children at risk of being harmed. We have hotlines operating 24/7 across Asia ready to respond to a call about a child in danger. Our ChildSafe social workers take the necessary action to rescue and protect the child.

Who is involved?

Individuals

ChildSafe informs all types of individuals. We inform citizens about risks their children are facing and how to be actively involved in protecting them. We create protective environments by training key people in communities. We also inform travelers and volunteers on the most effective ways to protect and support children and to be respectful of the communities they interact with.

Businesses

ChildSafe provides training to any business to allow their staff to immediately protect children at risk of abuse. All types of businesses can be trained and promote ChildSafe messages.

NGOs

Through the ChildSafe Alliance, we extend child protection to other countries, creating partnerships with like-minded NGOs working within their communities. We also ensure local authorities and governments are involved in protecting children, and we work with clinics, emergency shelters and counseling hotlines that provide services to children.
